As a Freshman: Only Bear to play in all 33 games, starting each game primarily as a DH and catcher... Named 2009 AD3I Co-Rookie of the Year and named to the AD3I All-Independent Second Team... Received AD3I Player of the Week honors on April 20 and USCAA Player of the Week honors on April 21... Batted .345 in the number three spot... Led team in total plate appearances (139), hits (38), RBI (39) and tied for first in home runs (2)... Ranked second in runs scored (32), ERA (3.00) and tied for second in walks (18)... Ranked third in slugging percentage (.500)... Had 10 games with multiple RBIs and 10 games with multiple hits... Went 5-for-5 in a 27-4 win over Lincoln University with a home run, three doubles, a stolen base, eight RBI and four runs scored...
